Injury Assessment
As a sports therapist, I am able to assess and diagnose differing injuries and conditions both acute and chronic. Following this, a relevant treatment and/or exercise rehabilitation plan would be implemented.
Joint Mobilisation
Joint mobilisations are a great technique for dealing with stiffness within joints and the spine. By mobilising the joints, movement is increased which helps reduce stiffness and pain.
Sports Massage
Sports massage consists of a range of advanced manual soft tissue and neurological techniques, to help improve soft tissue condition, tone, symmetry, balance and posture. This in turn releases soft tissue tension, pain and restoration of full range of movement.
Pitchside First Aid
Whether its Football, Taekwondo, Rugby or Table Tennis, pitch side/courtside cover is a part of a sports therapists skills. Providing pre-game massage and taping as well as pitch side first aid.
Taping
When using taping on patients, different types of tape can be used to achieve different outcomes.
Kinesio tape - works by lifting the skin, to help increase blood flow underneath and can be used to help activate or inhibit a muscle, decrease swelling or stabilise a joint.
Athletic taping - is a far more rigid tape made from zinc oxide, and is solely focused on providing stability to a joint.
1-1 Mat Pilates
Mat Pilates works by combining breathing and core engagment throughout a range of different exercises. The exercises all target different areas, but all look to strengthen, stabilise and or mobilise different muscles and joints throughout the body.
Mat Pilates can be beneficial in both a prehabilitation and rehabilitation setting, as well as improving general fitness and mental health.
With 1-1 classes, the exercises chosen will be specific for the clients individual needs and aims.
